Otter Creek Facility and Show News

• From Logs in the woods to Stall dividers! We have finished building the 80 dividers! Stall backs under construction.

• First rafters going up March 5th

DB Builders "The Boss Brad in the center"

• Bruce Berg and Mark. The sawing is done, after two weeks of work in below 0 temperatures! We now have all the oak lumber we need to build the stalls. DB Builders will start setting poles Wednesday the 27th.

• New Stabling Complex. Construction of a new stabling complex will start this winter. The increasing difficulty of locating and renting temporary stabling at a reasonable price was a big part of the decision to construct permanent stalls. The new stabling area will be located next to the existing show barn. It will house 80 stalls placed in four rows. The stall dividers will be made of solid oak boards and the fronts will have metal mesh on the upper part with metal stall guard doors. We hope to have this completed by the first show in May.

• New Food vendor. Welcome to Foster's Catering taking over from the Grill Masters who has retired from the Food Vendor business. Thank you to Jude and Brad for all the good years we had together! Best of Luck with your new adventures.

• Otter Creek to Host a CIC 1 &2 * May 16-18, 2008. John Williams is the new course designer taking over after Ritch Temple. John visited us in November and has made many changes to the courses. You will now start next to the warm up area, and continue north to the field by our house. Several new jumps will be constructed before the May show. Many of you have asked if we can't use the jumping arena next to the Pavilion for a warm up ring during dressage. We have decided to do this provided we have enough people for a jump crew Friday afternoon. This will give everyone a chance to warm up on the same footing as in the dressage rings. Let us know if you can help us with this!

• 3 New Dressage Shows! Dressage is on the calendar not just once but four times for 2008. The May Flower I and May Flower II Shows, May 3-4 is your chance to ride in two shows on one weekend. Many riders asked us for this and we are pleased to provide you with a show format you asked for. Please remember to send us an entry form for each show day.  The August Otter Creek Dressage Fest will take place the 16-17 with a schooling show on the 15th. The final show for the season is on October 4-5 "Otter Creek Fall Fest". The new stabling complex makes it possible for us to use the indoor arena for warm up. A big plus in bad weather!

• The Otter Creek Classis Is now "A" rated! The show will take place on August 27-31 with a schooling day August 26. The very popular Jumper Derby and Hunter Derby will be the highlight on Saturday afternoon. Should be a fun day for all.
